Dynamic Safety Training and Tracking Online for Workers in the Field
Challenge
Founded in 1952, Diversified Well Logging, LLC, is a staple of the offshore oilfield industry in Louisiana. As a leading Surface Measurement While Drilling (SMWD) company, it provides a range of services for oil and gas operations in the Gulf of Mexico and across the globe.
While Diversified Well Logging has developed cutting-edge services to meet the evolving demands of the oil and gas industry, it has struggled to track and enforce employee training for its remote workforce. The company had three main challenges it looked to Moxie Media to solve:
- Getting its employees, all of whom are in remote field locations, to complete their Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training.
- Reminding employees about training at the end of each quarter, which Diversified Well Logging had been doing manually without adequate tracking tools.
- Providing IADC RigPass® training online in order to eliminate the travel risks, expenses, and person-to-person contact associated with in-person training.
Solutions
By combining efficient employee assessment and advanced tracking tools with automatic reporting and reminders, we were able to increase worker comprehension as well as training completion. Our Learning Management System (LMS) made it easy for workers to access and complete training remotely. At the same time, our customizability enabled management to add or adjust training and quizzes, assign coursework by job titles or roles, and more to meet the company’s precise needs.
Online Training Available Anywhere
By providing Diversified Well Logging with online courses managed through our LMS, workers in remote locations could access training any time from anywhere. Our LMS also comes with offline capabilities, allowing workers with poor onsite internet connections to still gain access to training.

Interactive Learning Assessment Tools
Our LMS gave Diversified Well Logging the tools it needed to effectively assess learning outcomes for employee training. After each module in a Moxie Media training course, there is a built-in quiz to test learner comprehension. By automating quizzes, Diversified Well Logging could get started with assessment immediately. We also make it easy for managers to upload their own tests, so they can adjust or add to our assessments as needed.
Finally, our LMS makes quizzes interactive. When a trainee answers a question incorrectly, they are guided back to the related training material. They must review the material and answer the question correctly in order to pass. This improves the learning outcomes for workers without requiring any additional time or effort from management.
Customizable Training Solutions
Working in a fast-paced field with growing safety regulations, Diversified Well Logging needed a flexible training solution. With our LMS, managers can upload their own courses and quizzes in a few simple steps, making it easier to keep up with changing training needs.
Our LMS also provided Diversified Well Logging with the customizable options to fit a wide variety of job titles, roles, and associated training requirements. Using our “Sub Org” setups, managers can create different employee job titles and roles. In a single step, managers can assign coursework to specific groups of employees based on job title or role.
Automated Reporting and Reminders
When Diversified Well Logging came to us, its managers were struggling to track employee training effectively and contact employees individually with reminders to complete their training. Our LMS automated training recordkeeping and tracking, automated reporting on employee training to managers, and automated email notifications to employees who needed to complete their training. This led to higher training completion rates while cutting down on administrative tasks for managers.
