This program is intended to raise awareness of the potential hazards that may arise when handling lines and to suggest some basic line handling guidelines for both ship assist tug crews and ship’s deck crew. Topics include assist tug design and deck equipment, the types of line and basic line handling, safely working a main towing line, line handling ergonomics, and the care and inspection of soft lines.
